Passing through the narrow streets of the historic center, you'll discover the Maison Carrée, the city's main temple dedicated to the grandsons of Emperor Augustus. The tour continues with the Jardins de la Fontaine, built in 1745 under the reign of Louis XV. The lower part of the Gardens houses an ancient Roman sanctuary, the augusteum, which includes the famous Temple of Diana. The upper section features the Tour Magne, the highest and most prestigious Roman city wall, offering a breathtaking view of the city and surrounding area.

Nîmes, the Pont du Gard
Morning
This day dedicated to water begins at the source of Nîmes, in the heart of the Jardins de la Fontaine, laid out in the 18th century. Discover the ancient Roman sanctuary built around the spring, deified by the Gallic populations. Continue your visit with the castellum divisorium, the water distribution basin of the Nîmes aqueduct, which runs from Uzès to the famous Pont du Gard. This is a particularly rare monument in the Roman world.
Pass through the old dyers' quarter and learn more about the history of Nîmes' textile industry, which flourished in the 17th and 18th centuries. Learn about the fabulous history of Nîmes serge and its links with denim, used to make the first jeans by Levi Strauss. Lunch downtown.
Afternoon
Depart by coach for the Pont du Gard, the most impressive part of the Roman aqueduct that supplied water to the city of Nîmes from the Eure fountain in Uzès. At 49 m, this aqueduct bridge is the highest in the Roman world! Listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1985, you'll discover the entire site, including a museum and a discovery trail called "Mémoires de Garrigues".
