Opposite the Nîmes Arena, the Musée de la Romanité opened its doors in June 2018. Equipped with the latest technological innovations, it plunges visitors into a true historical experience, a journey back to Antiquity to discover Nîmes, the 'French Rome'.
The Musée de la Romanité is the new flagship of Nîmes' cultural landscape. With its strategic location in the heart of the city, its contemporary architecture in dialogue with the Arènes opposite, and its exceptional archaeological collections, the museum is the ideal place to learn about the Romanization process in the region. From the Gauls to the 19th century, via the Roman period, 25 centuries of history are retraced through 5,000 exhibits and 65 multimedia displays.
The Musée de la Romanité offers a spectacular setting, a unique view and personalized guidance, all set against an august backdrop of history.
